Paper Disc Screens
RDT can supply disc screens to separate OCC (Old Corrugated Cardboard) from commingled product, ONP (Old News Print) from containers and Mixed paper from containers and fines less than 50mm. The screens utilize rubber discs of different diameters and spacing's to maximize separation efficiency.
OCC SCREENS
OCC screens are usually positioned at the beginning of a recycling plant to remove large cardboard and objects greater than A3 size from the process. The screen uses large rotating discs to effectively transport the OCC over the top of the screen while the smaller paper and containers fall through.
ONP SCREENS
The ONP screens separate paper larger than A4 size from containers and small bits of paper. The screening deck can be adjusted between 45 & 38 degrees and uses rotating rubber stars to carry the paper over the top while the other objects fall through the screen.
When the discs begin to wear, the screen angle and the rotating speed of the stars can be adjusted to maintain an efficient material separation and helps to increase the life of the stars. Rubber stars can be replaced easily due to the quick removal of the star shafts using a unique shaft coupling system.
MIXED PAPER SCREENS
The Mixed paper screen works on the same principal as the ONP screen, but utilises a smaller spacing between the stars to create a three way product split. Paper is carried over the top of the screen, while containers roll off the bottom and product smaller than 50mm falls through. The screen comes with an air assist system which helps to increase the separation efficiency of the screen.
Mixed paper and ONP screens can be supplied as double deck screens for increased processing capacity.
Disc screens provide the following benefits to recycling systems:
- High processing capacity of recyclables.
- Small machine footprint to processing capacity
- Easily replaceable shafts and stars
- Low noise level
- 98% sorting efficiency with less than 2% contamination of paper stream
